Everything seems to be a remake these days. Somehow I could see Fantastic Voyage happening.
"Wanted in 14 counties of this state. The condemned is found guilty of the crimes of murder, armed robbery of citizens, state banks and post offices, the theft of sacred objects, arson in a state prison, purgery, bigamy, deserting his wife and children, inciting prostitution, kidnapping, extortion, receiving stolen goods, selling stolen goods, passing counterfeit money, and contrary to the laws of this state, the condemned is guilty of using marked cards...therefore according to the powers vested in us, we sentence the accused here before us Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Ramirez also known as the Rat and any other aliases he may have to hang by the neck until dead."
great ending, great beginning, great in between. the green mile is excellent too, but i think darabont stunk it up with the majestic. looking at darabont's latest work in progress it seems like his carrer has fizzled out to me.

Fahrenheit 451 was an absolute classic, cant see how they could improve on the original as it was plot driven rather than effects driven. I think it would only be worthwhile remaking a film if todays effects would greatly improve on the original. Forbidden plant and This island earth could well benefit from improved effects as long as they actually have actors in the main roles rather than bland untalented movie stars of which there are far too many today.
I would hate to see Barbarella remade, that was a camp classic! And no David Hemmings either

I really liked Shawshank and Green Mile as well, they just don't seem very Stephen King like tho do they.....
I think a good remake would be Logan's Run or Bladerunner...
