Movies I'd recommend

I just like picking on Arnold. I actually think he is pretty awseome and seems to be pretty thick skinned. I liked the Conan movies and with all the time that has gone by I think they hold up pretty good. I won't comment on his politics as not to offend anyone because moderate people like him are hard to find and saying something like that might anger somebody.Comment

I was hoping this could stay (generally speaking) on films we could recomend so that people might be able to find movies they had not seen or considered before. The movies I hate thread is getting really long and hard to follow.Comment

There are tons of movies people have suggested if I remember right there is a big list of 80's movies LT posted, and there is a bunch of great martial arts movies that nwg suggested .I am not trying to take away from your thread or anything I just have a feeling it's going to be no different then the other movie threadComment

The Long Good Friday is a movie i watched a few months ago never heard of it, but good flick. I can appreciate a lot of well made films, but i think a lot of my favorites will fall into the category of more entertaining than well made. Lethal Weapons movies are great to me. Do i think they are cinema genius no but a good time. I have had the Pianist in the wrapper for probably two years and have never had the urge to watch it. I know it is a well made movie, but i would just rather see Fight Club or Stripes for the 72nd time. (Fight Club that might be one that falls into both categories)Last edited by floresdave; 19 Jun 2006, 09:17 AM.Comment

@codajohn
I forgot about Mystic River...definately a must see. Sean Penn is really pretty scary in that movie, I know some people like him...he was pretty believable.

I think it would be cool if there was some way of having categorized movie recomendation post, by genre or something, with comments from fellow members . If you wanted a sci-fi flick you could look under that section and the find something. I guess the reason that It would be nice here is that everyone here is really into movies, so the critiques are usually right on the ball. I am sure there is a lot of stuff I have'nt seen and it would be cool to browse thru something like that. I guess I was just trying to get something more specific going but I think it might be much to ask. Lt's thread is great especially the members comments going back and forth and the tangent topics. It had my neighbors sons over today, 10 and 7 year old brothers. We watched Zathura, (these brothers also argue a lot) the older boy really took the movie to heart, so ZATHURA is my next recomendation.Comment

If we're talking older movies these are some of my old favorites:
The Last of the Mohicans
Heavy Metal (animated)
A Christmas Story
Devil's Own
For Love of the Game
GoodFellas
Legends of the Fall
Meet Joe Black
Tin Cup
The Fifth Element
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly (along with all Clint's spaghetti westerns)
Of course, Tombstone!
Many more that I can't think of right now!

sonic, I just did a google search on that movie and if is definately one I am going to keep my eyes out for. In my one horse town it will be hard but it does sound good. That is the kind of movie that is a perfect example of a good recomendation. I had never heard of it before. (by no means does the prior comment mean anything, there are tons of movies I've never heard of,that is why I started this thread, to find more movies.)Comment
