Interesting Forum Function

I am on another forum which uses the same vBulletin scripts as this one (but they still use rep and other various things of that sort).

I went to post something there, and a few minutes later posted something else. I then saw a single post and it said "last edited by drfsupercenter at [time]: automerged double-post".

I thought that could be cool for this forum so the ops don't have to remind us of double posting or edit them for us

And then we can use quick reply as a quick edit as well, not just quick-doublepost-and-break-the-rules

Damn fine idea drf. Most folks know that I am big on "bumping", even when it's not a bump - just a convenience. The search would need to take into account that the post had been updated, I think.

For example, you post at 0100. Nothing happens in the thread until you post again at 0800. The self merge happens and it gets lost in the "search for new posts" and the new info is not seen. This would not be good.

I hope admin sees this and can implement it.

Thats a nice mod !!!! I'm pretty sure that right now an edit doesn't show up in a new post search. Maybe the combining of posts was done because it was the OP that did the 2nd post and there were no other posts after his first one?
