What HD MP3 player do you use?

I had a Venturer MP3 40GB. It was nothing special but I liked it. It has just become faulty and thinks it was charging even though it wasn't and turns itself off.

I don't want a Ipod but have decided on either these two.

    Archos Gmini X202S 20GB £114

    Sony NW A3000 20GB £129.99

I would rather get a 30 or 40GB but funds don't allow it. The Archos behaves the most like the venturer but with less space and so is my preference atm.

    Acts as a HDD
No software needed as it uses drag and drop
Twice as small as the Sony

I like the look of the Sony (where is the on button ??) and don't mind the software it needs to do the music transfer. I think I would also convert to ATRAC.

    Archos X202S at Amazon

How much does 20GB format to? I think it is around 18.5GB which means I have too much music.

Does anyone have either of these?

I don't have one but if I had the money I would definately buy the "RCA Lyra Audio/Video Jukebox".

They are no longer made but are not hard to find.

It holds 40GB and uses drag/drop.

They are similar to what Archos do. I just want MP3 and don't need anything like video. They are also a lot of money. A 40GB Archos AV700 is £260.

The Lyra is $250, not sure how much that is in pounds.

How much space did you need?

That means £250. When gadgets and eletrical things come out in the UK they like to use $1 = £1. It would be £130 by importing (plus shipping and custom charges).

I would prefer at least 30GB but I only have a £150 max budget.

Oh sorry I don't know any that big. I know some good 1GB players for under $50, mainly because I don't have that many MP3s to fill such an expensive piece of plastic

Hubby has a Zen Nano Plus. Unlike iPod, it's user friendly and uses one AAA battery that lasts a long time.

Over the past 2 years, Hubby has gotten an iPod Mini, Nano, and a video. He spent a whole weekend trying to get a song downloaded. That Sunday night he ran out, got the Zen and had it done inside of 20 mins.

I sold the iPods on ebay!
That was Zen, this is Tao

I am rather annoyed with myself. At the same time I bought the Venturer (last new year), one of my favourite online sites were selling the 20GB Creative Zen Touch for £130. I now rather had got that instead.

I would like to know more about anyones experience with the Sony. Where is the on button? the pdf manual doesn't actually say.

I am hoping to decide by the weekend and either order the Archos online or get the Sony.
