    what a shame....

installed vista rtm [no key option obviously] so i can run the ultimate build for 30 days they say... but 3 things that dont work that i cant work without...

1: my Printer HP Photosmart 7760
2: My HP Scanner [havent checked it as i knew it wont work either]
    3: Logitech quickcam Pro 4000

Shame to all these companies for not making drivers for vista yet.

so next thing ill be doing tommorow .. revert to XP. whole day iv used i was pleased with vista.
one more thing all those things that make microsoft life misreable like media player and internet explorer builtin to OS, and now little fuss bout One Care and builtin vista windows defender, well while testing this final build of ultimate edition of vista u dont need a dvd / mpeg2 codec, media center plays dvds wonderfully, so no powerdvd, windvd now ......
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

There is a program from Microsoft that checks your software/hardware before you install/buy Vista.

I don't think I will be an early adopter of Vista. Until XP stops suiting my needs, I'll stick with it.

So I take it Vista is not like XP where 2000 drivers worked fine when it was new?

i've trialled vista the past few weeks... what a memory hog!

here's what i currently get on XP:

that's with 32 or so processes running, only disabling a few startup items (adobe, itunes/quicktime, etc). In Vista, with the exact same processes running, physical memory utilization is at 50% to 55%. unreal!

there were several things i did like, however. per application volume controls, pop-up calendar (which is in several linux distros anyway), windows photo gallery, and the wonderful resource & reliability monitors

all devices, aside from my digital tuner, worked fine without manually installing drivers.

yes u need minimum 1 gb ram for normal usage. 50% is used by just booting into normal.
but then i have used it in 512 mb toshiba laptop aswell with no 3d card, thus more like xp style, but still pretty stable and responsive.

bythe way i manage to install all my hardware in 32 bit......... forced to use Vista builtin 7800 for my printer, scanner instaled fine, hp scan software dont work though. logitech installed but builtin mic wont work.
