Good "clean" movies for the kids?

    Hi Guys,

I am trying to compile a list of "decent" movies for Pre-teen/early - mid teens. Looking for mainly comedy genre. I am trying to steer away from sexual content, drug references, booze, etc., which is present in so many comedies.

The language is not a real big issue, because we have the TV Guardian language filter which catches most offensive words. Can you all help me out with some good recommendations?

***maybe something like a toned-down version of "Revenge of the nerds"

    TY

That's a good link, anony. I came across that site before & forgot about it. The thing is, you have to do so much in-depth research on there to find out the offensive parts, etc.

But they are very thorough, with describing scenes, etc.

Another popular site I frequent for reviewing music, video games, & more is http://www.almenconi.com/

          Good one Chewy.

We also check out some of the TBN films:

We like the Christian/Religious films, but are looking for more secular comedy approach as well. We like Mr. Rogers, but sometimes we just wanna laugh! (but keep it clean)

I just rented Tootsie, Jumanji, and E.T. for the kids (4 and 11). They loved them.

I went to Blockbuster.com and just started going throught the lists and found a bunch of movies I had forgotten about, like The Man With One Red Shoe and The Man Who Knew Too Little.

Good luck, I know how hard it is.

Kabu - Thanks for the recommendations.

"Snow Day" is a good one you may want to check out.

I just saw "Night at the Museum" and it was a good clean comedy. It would probably be a good one when it comes out.

Hmm, let's see. What did I used to watch as a kid?

If you let your kids watch PG rated stuff, Little Giants is probably the funniest movie I remember. It has a bit of swearing, but nothing dirty.

Thanks LT, I will put that one in my queue.

Also, I recently came across this site:

Seems there is a DVD player on the market that can edit out offensive language, phrases, and yes, Even Nudity! Some of you may have heard of this one before, but it is new to me.
There have always been movies that in my mind utilized violence, language or sexual situations for no other reason than to supplement for the lack of imagination on the part of the director. Perhaps

I am tempted to give it a try, but as I understand it, you have to purchase a "subscription" service, & update the filters. Also, I am not clear as to how the filtering is done; that is to say, does the company review each movie to design a "filter set" for it, or does the filtering take place "on the fly", so to speak, for any movie that I choose to view?

If anyone here has any experience with this setup, please let me know!

What? You're no longer a kid?

My daughter (5) loves the new Pink Panther movie with Steve Martin although there is one off screen murder which she closes her eyes for. I see it got a low rating on IMDB but I think it's a funny movie if you like Steve Martin.
