A hobby or hobbies you passed up?

I remember making N scale railroads and doll houses with my dad. I always helped him when he was in his workshop. Kinda makes you hate being grown up.

The one thing I would like to do that I haven't is write a book. It's like a doll house or bookshelf because when you're done you have something concrete that everyone can enjoy (hopefully ).

the premier rennovator is our area got his start by building custom doll houses, started as a hobby, then he started doing it for pay, next thing he was redoing old mansions for the same people.

The best hobby in the world is the one where you don't have to work. The best hobby would be to get divorced because being married is way too much work. Nah. Just kidding.

My biggest hobby I have been putting off for about four years now is finishing my car. I do quarter mile racing and drift racing every year and always use someone else's car, but never seem to get my car done. I always help to work one everyone else,s cars. What a bummer.

I hear you; I finally learned how to tell others, "No". Over the years, I used to do whatever anyone called & asked; Now, my family comes first, and IF I have any time left over, then others. (unless in case of an emergency, of course)

That may sound selfish, but after all, I live with my family, not my friends, & family Must come first. The "little ones" grow up way too fast to neglect time with them!!!

My Hobbies:

My main hobby is R/C planes, to a lesser extent cars & boats. I am enjoying the discussion about "rats in space" lol

What I would really like to attempt yet, not really a hobby, but more of an endeavour; being an outdoorsman at heart, I would LOVE to hike the appalachian trail one day - my dream!

Looks like some real beautiful country. I looked on some sites; is that about 175 mi.?

Did you run into any; Bears, poisonous snakes or other nasty critters?

When I lived in West Virginia me and a couple of friends would go over into Virginia every year into Jefferson Nat. Forest between Bastian and Bland...over the years we probably hiked around 20-30 miles of the trail, but we did more camping and partying than hiking back in those days.

1. 72 miles with 3 miles extra(side trips for water and vistas)
2. 26 miles/day with 60 pound low tech packs(long ago and far away)
packs probably weighted 30-40 lbs 3 days later
3. in all my years only saw a few bears in the high country, lot of sign, had to
jump over a timber rattler once on the way back from myrtle point(le conte)
he was asleep sunning himself
4. we did see a small cougar one evening jumping accross trail(may have been a bob cat) it was so dark, scoutmaster said, did you see that? Never mentioned it to the other boys
5. The trail is all god's country, heaven on earth kind of thing
if you are ever in the smokies and have a driver do the clingmon's dome to cades cove hike(26 miles), take an overnight and 2 easy days, some of the best scenery in the east

Yeah, that makes more sense than my figure of 175 mi. At 60 mi./day, you would have really been hoofin' it! 'course wookies do have a longer stride than ordinary folks do

My favourite hobby is smallmouth bass fishing. I enjoy the time alone or with friends.

And believe me,... a bad day fishing is better than my best day at work!

The hobby I would love to try is to get my pilot's license and buy a plane!

Then both could be combined on remote lakes.

My second is watching a nice small bonfire outdoors. Always peaceful.
