The Dumbiest Thing Somebody Ever Told You

The dumbiest thing somebody told me was when my Broadband went down and I phoned my ISP. I explained I couldn't get on-line, I told the man I shut down my PC, unplugged my cable modem from the mains, waited 60 seconds, plugged it back in, waited for the lights to stable themselves and I booted back up and still no internet. I was put on hold now and then while the man checked on things. I kept telling him they must have a fault at their end where everybody in my area got no internet from them but the man disagreed. The dumb thing he told me was, he told me to give him my e-mail address and he'll e-mail me some instructions on what else to try. I asked him, "How can I get to my e-mails when I can't get on-line, that's the point in my phone call?" Then the penny dropped and he felt like a fool. He realised I couldn't get to my e-mails and if I could I wouldn't have phoned in the first place and I wouldn't have needed the instructions.

    Dumbiest?

Perhaps the instructions weren't so dumb. Could you not have retreived the email from another location - perhaps an Internet cafe?

    Just razzing ya dazuk

My wife called me at work a few weeks ago and said ours was out. I told her I wasn't surprised, I'd seen an ATT truck at a pole a few blocks away on my way to work. Told her to call and ask if there was an outage.

She called and they said no. After an hour of useless tasks, and being bumped from person to person, she was told by a supervisor that there was an outage in our area.

I was in a bar that had a jukebox with cd's in it. Quite a few of them would skip alot, when we asked the bartender about this he said that the ones that were skipping were popular songs and since they were played so much they had developed a groove in them from the laser which was causing the skipping.....

I was watching an old movie from BB when it messed up and skipped a part,
blocky artifacts etc. When I looked at the disk it looked like it had been
frosted from heat in a spot or two. I asked at the store, they told me it was from people putting it in a dvd burner on a computer. A friend that used to work at another BB store said it was from a buffer they use.

That the entire world is honest, including the president, and that there is no disease, sickness or corruption in the world, and that everything happens for the best.

Sony, Disney and Microsoft love you, as they are sticking their hand in your wallet and telling you a BS story. And that the government is here to help you.

I was at a Best Buy today, and the guy said Vista has good ease-of-use. I almost dropped on the floor laughing

The nearest Cafe to me is a few miles away and I never fancied going there to check my e-mail. Not only that, it would cost me money to use their PC and most of all, I don't like the idea of checking my e-mails on a public PC. Even though I can log out, I wonder if anyone can still go into a folder and invade people's e-mails because as we know, everything is recorded and some expert can arrive at any PC. How do we know if people's user names and passwords are easy to find by an expert?

I remember years ago when I was a kid and when the ice cream man arrived a girl asked, "How much are the 10p lollies?"

Another thing I remember. I can't believe I forgot this after my first message.

One time when I was using Norton Anti-Virus, I kept having problems with the updates. I went through Symantec's help pages and they were useless. I followed the instructions to the letter and they crashed things up in a major way. I called Symantec and explained the whole situation and the man asked after a minute of my explaining, "What can I do to help you?" I wasn't hard to figure out after I just told him. Don't you just hate it when you explain something and after that you get a stupid question or after the explaining they tell you they'll put you through to another department? Why can't they step in and stop us a quarter of the way to save our time and tell us they'll put us through to another department? They always wait for us to finish and then they'll do it knowing how annoying it must be for us unless they are too stupid to realize they can save do it straight away by stopping us before we finish. Then we have to explain the whole thing again.

                    Darren.

How about Microsoft's message when they want you to send an error message. I don't remember it exactly but so our experts can work on a solution & get back to you as soon as possible.

I have a family member that has a husband that asked her to make him some hot dogs and put them in the fridge so he could just heat them up and eat them later that day.

                            nuke it for 30 seconds?

                            beats a cold bologna sandwiche

Google just told me a dumb thing:

                              -- Go to www.google.com

                              -- Click on Maps.

                              -- Click on Get Directions.

-- From New York, New York.

                              -- To Paris, France.

                              -- And read line #23.
