No clue...looks like it is still under construction though, somewhere in the middle east?

Yes, its the ski slope in the desert of Dubai. I worked with HVAC, AC, chiller systems, refrigeration systems , power plants during my working career and I can't emagine how much money to maintain this gigintuan fridge must be enormous! But hey they have all the money in the world. In the west this project will be deemed white elephant.

I've seen the inside of that thing on the Discovery channel I think.

Have you seen the island's they are building there?

They certainly do know how to throw money at a project over there...

We just have to wait for Internet 2.0 and we can send pictures like that to a search and find out what it is

Or so said PC Magazine. Imagine how useful that would be if that can actually happen! (What's next, uploading mp3s? LOL)

They are just talking about www 2.0 in BBC program "click" this morning.
Several footballers and snooker players have properties in the palm islands. I think someone already snapped the British isle in the present project "The map of the world" I have seen the documentary in building the Palm islands. What worries me is that those reclaimed water space....the water displaced gonna go somewhere? In the Thames estuary? I hope not!

I don't think that much water is being displaced because they are actually using sand dredged from the ocean floor to create the land mass so I would think the water would just fill that void.

25% sand used was a conservative stimates mostly desert sand barged in to site. They actually erasing mountains in the face of the earth to fill in and must be of a particular size boulders and rocks. (You can't build a castle on sand locoeng )They also have to enclosed the whole islands with tarpaulins to prevent erosion. The danger possibly would be another exxon Valdez in the vicinity of the Islands. Or a massive settlement.

My first home outside of New Orleans was built on a swamp of of Lake Ponchartrain. They dug deep water canals and took the dirt and piled it to build the homes, streets and whatnot. It required a minimum of 30 pylons being driven under each house.
