    Mini DV Cameras?

    Hello,
My dad is now looking at Mini DV camcorders, and asked for my opinion. He saw the Canon ZR830 at Costco and wanted to know if it was any good... do any of you know much about Mini DV cameras that would be willing to help look for a good one?

This is a very reliable place to get all info:http://www.camcorderinfo.com/
The CCD in Canon ZR830 is pretty small(1/6"). Sony HC 96 would have been my choice in the middle-price range. If you want anything cheaper, Canon Elura 100 is highly recommended.

      Hi

I got a Sony 301 as a gift a few years back. At this point I would much prefer recording striaght to a hard drive vs. fumbling w/ mini DVD's. Changing discs, unlocking, reformating etc... Plus - you never know if the disc is bad or not until it's too late.

      That's my opinion

Don't mini DV cameras use digital tapes? It would work the same way... put the recording on the computer and erase, right?

As far as that one being "small", is that good or bad? That was just one my dad found at Costco, but if there's a better one in that price range ($200-$300), I'm sure that would be OK as well.

I'm sorry - I thought you were referring to mini 1.4 gb DVD movie cameras.

          Good luck
