    Which Drive to buy?

I've been thinking about getting into the DVD creation thing, but I am confused about which drives I can use. It seems like a lot of people are using the DVR-A03, which looks like it can be had for < $400 (mail order). But if I go to www.pricewatch.com I see a lot of "DVD-RAM" drives which are a lot cheaper. Is there a difference between DVD-RAM and DVD-R? Will discs I burn with said drives be viewable in my set-top DVD player?

Any help for this newbie is appreciated.

    well........

dvd - ram is NOT compatable with dvd rom drives but if u get the poineer drive that u were describing, it burns dvd-rs and dvd-rws the ram drive will burn dvd-rs also but NOT dvd-rw (ram is rewritable) the hp drive cannot burn dvd-rs it will burn dvd+rs which arent out yet so your best and cheapest bet is the poineer drive and the dvd-rw is compatable with alot of dvd players so you can brun a test disks and see if that works instead of making coasters all the time
