making widescreen dvd from mpg2 file

hi i started to backup some dvd's and was thinking to add a intro to my backups, something small. fade in a pic and then fade out with some backgrounds music. what does the pic dimentions have to be for it to be widescreen (since the dvd is widescreen) or can you have both (fullscreen and widescreen)on the same dics?
one more thing is there any guides for nero recode?
