    stand alone problem

    cant quite work this out

I recently ripped a full disc with menus using dvd shrink after burning the disc ive found it plays fine on the pc and in one player (phillips) but on my other player (alba) it freezes when you press play movie on the menu screen ok so the alba was very cheap but ive burnt and played dozens of discs on it before with no problems.

    Can any one help ?

thanks for that, ive always used red datawrite 4 speed and never had any problems with them before im beginning to think it must be somthing to do with the source dvd.

ive just tried ripping with dvd decrypter then shrinking the resulting dvd files & burning in nero at 1 speed it still wont play properly, but this time it stops about half way through the disc ? also the disc seems to be clicking quite alot in the player although after testing origional dvd's and my backups they seem to play fine with no clicking.

hmm its all a bit confusing

im still open to any suggestion anyone may have

"im beginning to think it must be somthing to do with the source dvd"

This is not likely, since you said your burned DVD plays properly on both your PC and your Phillips standalone DVD player.

You might want to try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc in your Alba standalone DVD player. Maxell makes one that retails for appeoximately $10US...
