when I convert DIVX films to DVD it turns purple in every other scene am I doin something wrong.

Yes you are...
You are not stating the software and procedures you've used to perform the conversion. In addition to posting that information, also do the following:
1) Load the original DivX-compressed .AVI video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub
2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"
3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box -
