Widescreen layout on TMPGENC

Hey guys:
I've been trying recently to get my mpg files that are full screen to be converted to widescreen. Is there any way to do this? Which ratio do I use under the option when it comes up? I've used quite a few and none turn my full screen files to widescreen. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here's something you could try - if they are in DVD format (IFOs, VOBs and BUPs). Change the VTS's video attributes to automatic letterbox (top and bottom cropped). The attributes in the IFOs take precedence over those in the VOB.

Easy way to do this is in PgcEdit.

1. Open DVD in PgcEdit.
2. Double click on a PGC (there's usually just 1) which contains the movie for which you want to change the attributes.
3. Click on "Current domain stream attributes".
4. Set aspect ratio to what you want (this will affect all titles in the VTS).
5. OK OK etc. and save.

Try the following in TMPGEnc (originally posted by "setarip"):

Click the "Video" tab and change applicable settings to: 352X240 (PAL 352x288), 4:3 (NTSC or PAL as appropriate) 525 Line. Click the "Advanced" tab and change applicable settings to: "16:9 Display", "Center (Keep aspect ratio)", and 352x240 (PAL 352x288).

"Cropping" means "cutting off the bottom and top of the image", right? (sorry, English is not my native language)

Then, is it possible to define how much you want to cut off the screen at both sides? Because I don't want to cut the same size at the top and the bottom, I actually want to cut off 2/3 at the bottom, and 1/3 at the top.

Is that possible?

(doesn't have to be TMPGEnc, any other MPEG editing program will be fine)
