is there a program that will burn .avi files onto a cdr in a format that will play in a dvd player?

nero (www.ahead.de www.nero.com) does this job, using the vcd option in other formats, it changes the avi to vcd mpeg1 or svcd mpeg2 (which takes some hours)

better tool for making vcds:
tmpeg enc , but u need to burn it as vcd format
