File size gets huge when trying to author with My DVD 3.0

Can anyone tell me why it is that when I bring in a file to "MY DVD 3.0" it grows to an extremely large size and in turn gives me an "over!" error as it will then not fit on any sort of media disc?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
