If a ripping program when ripping could edit the speed of the stream. Like what if smartripper could "rip" the video but instead of 8 megs per second standard DVD you could just rip at 6 megs a second to make it fit on your 4.7 disk.

I do it all the time with my tv capture card. You cant tell the difference in quality.

It would be far too taxing on most PC's.
