When I rip DVDs the audio comes out at a funny speed.
I rip with DVD Decrypter
Append VOBs with vStripGUI
Demux with VOBrator
Convert AC3 to Wav with Winamp or Azid or Virtualdub+Mpeg2+AC3 ACM
Reencode with Virtualdub+Mpeg2+AC3 ACM
Regardless of how I decompress the audio, it seems to correspond with a framerate of 23.982-23.984 fps.
This number is occasionally found by Virtualdub as the framerate at which the audio and video lengths are equal, but is always confirmed by getting the lip-synch right. This has happend on three different DVDs on different drives.
My solution so far is to create Divx files at 23.983 fps. Alternately I can change the audio length in Goldwave.
1. Does this happen to anyone else?
2. Is there an exact way of calculating this number? (e.g. 23.976... = 24/1.001)
3. Given that my monitor runs at 60Hz, will playback be any smoother at 24fps vs. 23.983 fps?
4. Should I attempt to rip, append, and demux using vStripGUI?
Thanks!
