Help needed with Philips DVDR890

Can anyone help me with backing up my dvd's on my Philips DVDR890 machine? There must be a way round the copy protect message I get, is there a chip available or is it simply an access code I must enter? Thanks in advance!

If you're referring to backing up commercial DVDs, I'm afraid you can't use your set-top recorder to do this.

In order to accomplish this, you'd have to have a PC with a DVD burner as part of its system...

It is posssible with some players, the Philips is one that doesn't unfortunately.
