Burn downloaded DivX films from Kazaa onto DVD? I'm really hoping someone can say yes it is but i'm doubtful!

For some reason all the VCD/SVCD's i've burnt won't play on my JVC DVD player but it plays my copied DVD's fine. So what i'm really saying is can avi/mpeg type files be changed to VOB files?

I really need some help if anyone has any idea's........
