    Burning 1x disks at 2x?

I see in posts that it is possible to burn 1x disks at 2x, how do you do this? I have a liteon LDW-411S and use clonedvd when all I want to do is copy, I use nero 6 ultra for everything else.
Clonedvd does not tell what speed it is burning at or how to change it, nero goes to whatever the disk was rated at, how do I burn it faster? If I do burn it at 2x when it was rated at 1x what are the chances of loosing data?
Sorry for the stupid questions I am new here

    Thanks

Mosr drives are already only offering 2x on 1x media, but it's a fundtion of the drive's firmware and there's nothing you can do about it. The LiteOn mostly burns 1x stuff at 2x.
