Please help a Newbie

I have been trying for months to burn dvd's. I have a dvd drive and dvd burn drive. I have tried using nero, dvd platinum, dvd decryptor, dvd express. I wanted to play burnt dvd's on my PS2, but have given up hope. I have been able to use DVD shrink to copy dvd's but only onto DVD+rw's. I have been to doom9.org, but haven't figured out a way to burn onto dvd-r or +r. Nero would copy the dvd but wouldn't recognize a dvd-r to burn it onto. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you've got a burner (H-P, perhaps?) that's limited to burning DVD+R/Ws only...

How would I check that? I got the PC from dell in Aug.

I suggest you look up your device manager for the model name and number of your burner, then look it up at www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters
