    How DVD9 is encoded usually?

    I mean by hollywood film makers.
    are the DVD9 encoded with VBR Video?

    They seem to be. If you watch a DVD in PowerDVD and enable 'show information' then you can see the bitrate changing as the movie plays.

      Generally professionally authored DVD's are encoded with CQ (constant quality) VBR mode I believe.

        Here is the information area of the PowerDVD display while playing a part of LOTR2 - it looks variable to me...
