    problems with playback in wmp

Curious if anyone else has had this problem.

I backup a disk with either Memorex or Ritek (usually Ritek) discs and when I pop it in my pc, Windows Media Player will only play the audio, not the video part of the disc. Roxio DVDMAX player that came with My TDK 880N plays it fine. Any idea what causes this?

Oh, and if anyone remembers my last post about the "flecks" on the source disc after a burn, you'll be happy to know that the problem has not repeated. Maybe just an isolated incident.

    Cheers!

It would seem that you don't have an MPEG-2 codec registered with Windows...

It plays source discs and some burns fine though. Why would it be selective about which ones it plays correctly?

You were right. Downloaded a MPEG-2 codec and it fixed the problem. Of course, my next question is why this works? If it doesn't have the problem on every burned disc, does that means some discs are encoded mpeg-2 and some aren't?

        Thanks!
