Burned Speed Slowed Down

Hello all, Im while using DVD shrink - i ran into a problem. All dvds copy perfect, however my i cant seem to encode or burn above 2.4x. I have an 8x burner and im using 8x ritex media. I cant figure out what Im doing wrong that I cant get up to 8x. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

A couple of things:
Check out the TDK website for firmware upgrades - the firmware currently might be clamping the speed down to 2.4.
Look at www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters to check brand compatibility.
