problem reading DVD-R on standalone Panasonic DVD player

I have a Panasonic R32DVD player and I have problem reading my DVD-R discs backups.

It says in the manual that it reads finalized DVD-R, so I backed-up some of the DVDs that the kids play over and over so they will stop scratching the originals… but everytime I insert a DVD-R (one of my backups), I get the message that it is “incompatible”… what should I do?

These backups work find on my computer; I have used DVDShrink and then copied them with either drag to disk or creator 6.
