    Usb Hell

I have just purchased a pioneer107d external usb 2.0 writer.
It works fine on my laptop which runs win XP, but on my pc also running XP it doesn't recognise it. No drivers were loaded on either computer as win XP has its own, XP is supposed to recognise it as a USB mass storage device and install driver automatically from system files. As I said my laptop works well as soon as I connect it recognises it, does any one know a remedy for this solution?

    all help appreciated

Does your pc recognise a usb device at all?
Do you have USB enabled in BIOS?
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

I Googled your drive but alas no sign of a driver.
You could try going into device properties when attached to your laptop and jot down all the associated driver files and try copying them but this shouldn't really be neccessary

When you go to "my computer" is the USB drive listed? The fact that your OS lists printer, modens, and mp3 is not really the samething.

Another person was having a simlar problem and this question was asked:

"Not sure of this but have you installed Windows XP servicepack 1? Think there is a update in it for USB connections?"

You might want to do a "search" for USB and see anyone else is having a similar problem.
