I need to get a DVD burner by this weekend (HDD is filling fast).

The LiteOn SOHW-832S dual-layer burner caught my eye.

Anyone have it? Is it worth getting?

Do DVD compressing programs like DVDx and/or DVD-Shrink work well with it?

Any problems/troubles I should knwo about?

Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

These programs do what they're supposed to - and in no way depend upon the burner...

I just occasionally read that some progams, eg DVDx, wouldn't duplicate a DVD in some drive.

I'd generally like to know if that LiteOn drive is a good one to get? Have people experienced ANY problems with it?

[edit]: And have people successfully backed up various commercial DVDs with this drive? I get DVDs from Australia, China and Europe, an want to back them up for safe-keeping. I need to knwo whether this drive will do all this without hiccups - whether compressed to single-layer, or duplicated to dual-layer.
