No More Blanks!; 8x burning, etc

Thanks to all who have helped me out last week, I was going thru my first burns and kept getting blanks after "successful burning" in all programs, the big problem was the media! I have burned two for two and I am sure I will not get anymore blanks!!

8x burning:
I have read in either this forum or another one that it is possible to burn at 8X on a 4x DVD-R disc. How? In Nero 63115 max is 4X. I was going to buy some 8x disc's, but wanted to see if I can burn at 8x with a 4x DVD-R. Possible?

I bought some Ritek Ridata G04 DVD-R 4X disc.

Also have Authoring ?, but will post to that forum.
