    weird DVD-R problem

im using sky media and samsung new drive, maxel dvd+rw works fine but sky dvd-r fails... it actually completes burn without error but then just wont able to read by either dvd rom and the writer. tried both data and video.

will look for some other brand media and post again. maybe somone knows any other solution.

"wont able to read by either dvd rom and the writer."

Chances are quite good that the DVD-ROM only reads +R media.

As far as reading with the burner:

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your DVD burner, as well as media compatibility, go to:
    http//www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters

By the way, have you tried playing a burned "sky" DVD-R on a standalone DVD player (that you KNOW can playback -R media)?

well Thnks for the reply..... after wasting 3 disks, i found samsung has a seperate site for firmare and there was new firmware for my drive. i updated it and now it works flawless. i burned sky -R again and it works on my DVD-Rom, my DVD-RW and also on my Philips standalone.

its just strange samsung put a dual format drive inthe market thats not actually 100% dual only firmware makes it 100% dual.
