Saving multiple files to a DVD

I am converting my old 8mm movies to DVD. I would like to keep the original captured .avi file with its DVD version, on the same disk, so they do not get separated.

Any ideas how to do this and still maintain the 'playabilty' of the DVD file when in the DVD player and yet still be able to access the .avi file when the DVD is used with the computer?

Theoretically, you could burn the AVI file(s) at the root level to the DVD (r, rw) disk while maintaining the DVD folder structure of VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS separately. (All DVD-related files e.g. IFOs, BUPs, and VOBs must reside in the VIDEO_TS folder).
