Having quite a bit of problems

I have been trying to but a movie on a dvd now for 3 days. It is an MPG file that apparently is MPEG-1. So, I tried using the TPGED??? thing to change to Mpeg-2, then it was too large. So, then I used the Nero 6 program, and it recognized the Mpeg-1 so I set to burn, took all day, I come home from work and it said it failed (i save the error log). Then I tried my Easy CD/DVD Creator 6, and it won't recognize the file. I am at a loss!!!! ow I try to use the TPGENC thing and I am told I don't have DVD software??
