Hoping for a real answer!

I have posted a question about ripping a DVD to my hard-drive without creating the IFO BUP files. I just want to save the main movie as a MPEG or AVI. I always get the same type of response: to look elsewhere. I looked elsewhere and could not find what I was looking for. So if someone has the answer, please let me know.
