No 5.1 sound after DVD is backed up

I am backing up my DVDs using DVDShrink. I only back up the 5.1 AC3 stream to get maximum video quality.
I use Nero 5.5 to burn the movie to DVD. Once burned, they play fine in my DVD player but only with 2 channel sound. It does not play the movie with 5.1 sound.
Do I need a special plug-in? Any suggestions will help.

Try to change the settings in your stand alone player.

I've tried to. But it does not enable me to change it. The normal option that toggles different streams does not do anything.
