Newbie: "No writer detected"

Hi I am a real newbie here. I have done a lot of reading and thought I had finally burned my first DVD when DVD decrypter states :writer not detected" I am running Virtual PC on a MAC. The super drive is a Mat****a DVD UJ-825. DVD decrypter had no problem ripping the DVD to my hard drive. From my reading this may have something to do with "regions"

Any help would be appreciated

Use dvd shrink to rip the files onto the hard drive and burn them...

Virtual PC? Mac? Does it all work as it should using this setup? Never been there or know of anyone that has...

I cant see what the regions on a dvd have to do with that unless your reading a region i.e. 2 on your drive that is set to region i.e. 4 but then again if this is the problem you can use DVD43...
