Errors burning with Nero and DVD Shrink 3.2

I'm having errors with burning after using DVD Shrink 3.2.
During the burn phase with NERO 6.6, I get an error. Any advice?

Is it an external burner connected with an USB?

yes, it is external with USB 2.0 connected to Win XP OS
i was originally assuming that it was a fault of the cheap DVD-R that i purchased. i'm trying again right now with new Memorex DVD-R
