Is it possible to improve the format of a cd?

Hello, I'm new to the board and have a question for you experts. We purchased a set of the Hogan's Heroes series. Each disk has 16 or 17 shows. As I'm sure you know, we are having touble with skipping, freezing and just not playing with some of the episodes. We clean the disks and the player often.

I was wondering if there is a way to load each episode on my computer then burn it on a new disk in a better format? Maybe putting fewer on each cd. If this can be done, what program or software do I need?

    Thanks for any help.

    Monica

    welcome to the forum

just sounds like you need to use better quality blank media &/or burn your discs at a lower (or lowest) speed

Thank you for your reply. Using quality media & burning at a lower speed is what I want to do. Will making copies from these disks I have work? Does the low quality of the originals make it impossible to make good copies?

Return the DVD set to the place of purchase - and get a new replacement set...

            DVD

            "get a new replacement set..."

We bought them from Ebay. We contacted the seller and told him the trouble we were having and he sent us another whole set.

The second set seemed better so we attributed the problems to our DVD/VHS combo player. My son (and the seller) says the disks play just fine through the computer. Now too much time has lapsed to return to the original seller so I thought maybe I could try recording them onto new disks in a better format. (I may not be using the best words.)

              very awkwardly phrase
if the original video quality is good or poor, then the copy should be same but, if the originals are scratched/damaged, then it will be harder to make a good backup.

Are these COMMERCIAL, pressed DVDs or burned DVDs?

The FIRST season, which is comprised of, perhaps, 15 episodes is first scheduled to be released on March 15th. It is, therefore, hard to understand how you could have a set of LEGITIMATE DVDs wherein, "Each disk has 16 or 17 shows."

I know I'm wording my posts "awkwardly," I'm not very good with computer lingo. I was wondering that if the poor quality on these disks comes from too much data compressed on the disks could be corrected on copies if I could put fewer episodes on each disks. I know just copying them would just "copy" the same problems. I don't think the disks are scratched or damaged.

"Are these COMMERCIAL, pressed DVDs or burned DVDs?"

I believe the seller said he burned them himself from a private collection he bought.

Then you have purchased an illicit/illegal product.

Discussion of anything to do with such activity is a violation of the rules of these forums.
