    very strange

ok heres whats happining... i put in a blank dvd+r (maxwell) and shrink says that insufficant space. when i look in My Computer it says that my DVDRW drive is now a cd drive... when i go into hardwere monitor it says Liteon sohw-1633s dvdrw. the disk are blank i snaged them from my roomie, and they work fine on his machine. he is able to maake copies with them.

i also looked at media type using alchol 120 and it recognized them as blank dvdr. is windows being mean to me or thease disk just suck?

"i put in a blank dvd+r (maxwell) and shrink says that insufficant space."
Either the movie is too big to fit or there is already something on the disc. DVD Shrink is incapable of lying.

"when i look in My Computer it says that my DVDRW drive is now a cd drive..."
That is normal. A DVD is a form of a CD (Compact Disc). Take the blank media out, close the drive, go back to my computer. And it will say DVD-RW drive.

Try updated your firmware for your burner. Go here to update the firmware, its the second one if that is indeed your burner model - http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/download.htm

That may depend upon the O/S. Under Win98and Win98SE, the desription "DVD-RW" doesn't exist. DVD-ROMs and DVD burners will simply show as "CD_ROM Disc"...
