I downloaded a movie the other day, but when i went to view it, it was saved as a dat file instead of a avi file. what do i do to view it? i can't find any programs that will work. I have had this happen before... saves as dat file and now i'm lost, please advise. thanks

It's probably a file intended to be used as part of a VCD. Simply open Windows Media Player and "drag and drop" the .DAT file onto the open player. It should start to play automatically...

rename the file .mpg and that'll do also
