Here's the order I did things:
I used DVD Decrypter to rip a Trigun DVD by chapters. I then used a vob merger to add the 2 halves of the episode I was encoding together. (before you jump at me for vob merging, I was having this problem before I did that. )
At this point, I had my 1 vob file and I wanted to encode it as per the instructions for xMpeg at doom9.org. I set the codec for DivX 4.1.2 and then set the audio for MPEG layer 3. When I try to start the encoding, I get an error from xmpeg. If I set the audio to uncompressed PCM, it works fine. Obviously I'm not shooting for 200 meg episodes, so this is a problem.
Any ideas?
I'm in Windows 2000 and I installed the generic ASPI (or whatever it is) from Adaptec using the utility that lets you do so.
Thanks!
