    gknot trouble with delayed audio

I've been using gknot for a little while now with great success. Following a number of guides out there excellent quality divxs rips pop out everytime at exactly the filesize I specified.

I've just come across my first couple of movies though where dvd2avi has put delay information into the name of the ac3 file. GKnot is correctly picking up this information, but if I encode with the suggested delay - the sound is out and divx 2.0 alpha crashes when I try and skip through the divx file.

If I encode without the delay - divx 2.0 alpha doesn't crash when skipping through the file, but the sound is out as well (which it should be).

Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to fix it ?

    cheers,
    Andy.

This is just another indication that the divx player is very buggy.

Although using audio delays in avi files is not without problems. When you cut an avi file that contains a delay, the delay may get lost in the second part.

To solve the problem you might use the -ota( -d delay ) option in besweet. This will hardcode a delay into the output mp3 file, and no delay is neede in the avi file. Of course this needs to be done manually, and you have to manually mux the mp3 file into the avi.
Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.

Thanks khp for your reply. I did get around the problem by manually converting the ac3 file to a wav, and than using virtual dub to do the mux. It seems to do the delay properly unlike nandub - I think the problem may be related to using vbr mp3. Since virtual dub using constant bit rate encoding it avoids the problem ?

Will try your suggestion of putting the delay into the mp3 file using besweet and then encoding with nandub without a delay.
