Can´t convert PCM audio to Mpeg Layer3

    Hi.
I record films to my PC using my sony Handycam.
The recorded file is an AVI file and the sound is recorded im the PCM format.
When enconding to Divx, the video records ok, but the sound gets mute.
The information abou the sound part of the file is :
    PCM
    48 000 KHz
    16 bits.
    Any help?

Did you set whatever program you are using (to convert the video to DivX) to include the PCM sound stream as well? PCM sounds like plain uncompressed PCM .wav file to me, so most encoders should have no problem recognizing the sound stream and converting it to the (more space-saving) MP3.

        Avi sound plays fine

I use Virtual Dub to encode to Divx. I think i'm doing all the steps right.
When playing the AVI the sound is great.
        Thanks in advance.
