Advice on VHSRips & Nandub/Avisynth Filters...

Can anyone give me some advice regarding VHSRips and which Nandub filters we can use to enhance their quality?

I've tried the smoother filter which DivX seems to like because it makes the frames easier to compress, but you can end up with a picture that looks too soft.

The sharpen filter seems to make the image look better, but harder for DivX to compress.

Has anyone found a combination of filters they can recommend?

Perhaps it's better to do all the filtering in Avisynth rather than in Nandub?

I don't do VHS rips, so this may not be right for you. Anyway, give 2D cleaner a try...
