Direct Stream and (text) Filter

Hy,

Is there not any way to put a subtitle to a DivX movie?(avi)
I use VirtualDub, but the only way to use it, is to do a video compression.It's not possible to put a subtitle with Direct stream.

Does somebody know another program that can do this?

You can't do that. The avi file format does not support subtitles streams. Which means that the subs must either be, 'burned' into the picture, which requires reencoding. Or stored in an external file, which can then be displayed durring playback, either using the Direct VobSub filter or the microDVD player, depending on the format.
