pink/blue effect on divx 5 encoding

Hi to all, for my first post here a problem i've encountered with
Divx 5.02 2-pass encoding.
I've ripped my original Harry Potter DVD to test the whole process with my new P4/GeForce4 PC.
When performing the encoding from vob to avi using Divx5 compression i got strange pink/blue component stronger than others. I mean face and skins of actors fade to pink and the whole compressed avi has a blue/cyan component higher than others
I've tried to encode with may sw (xmpeg, FlaskMpeg, DVD2AVI etc.) tuning other varaibles like bitrate (i've encoded thru 4500 kbs, better sharpness but still have pink/blue effect...) 1-pass, 2-pass, 1-pass quality etc. Nothing to do ....

Where i went wrong ?

What resolution are you encoding at ?.

I believe it's the screen resolution prb, both the width and the height must be divisible by 16. For example, 512 X 288 for wide-screen movies, 512 and 288 are both divisible by 16.

I'm encoding at 720x576 and lower...

i've read that 3d but also trying resolutions divisible for 16/8 i got the same effect.
My problem is quite little different from the one described in the 3d you're referring. My pink/blue effect is diffuse and not only present in some "corner" box or pixel.
I got all the actors violet colored in face and all the frames seems to have a stronger blue component (thinking in RGB...)


P.S. The original VOBs are perfect (i've tought of macrovision protection of DVD) but when i encode wit divx or xvid i got this.
I will try with an other dvd of mine and test if i got same effects.

I generally prefer, only to use resolutions that are divisible by 16 for both height and width. This is because the macroblocks in divx is 16*16 pixels, if you encode at other resolutions your encoding will at best be less efficient, and at worst you get discolorations or corrupt output.

Another source of your problem might be GMC, which has on rare occasions been rumoured to produce problems like this.

It was my great foolish fault.
I've tested the result avi with WinAmp3 that has this bug.
With WinMediaPlayer / Divx 2.0a/Zoom Player it looks OK.
