Subtitle VOBs - Can I convert them?

I only ripped the subtitle stream using DVD Decryptor so the VOB that it makes is around 40 MB. Is there a way I can convert this into a text file, or one of those "normal" formats, where the subtitle file is less than 50 kb? I tried using SubRip but it didn't seem to work well. It couldn't recognize any character and kept asking me to select a color, which I tried all four but none gave me any readable words.
