    Hello,

I have a good movie in mpg format but it is 757MB and does't fit in a normal CD.

Someone can help me to cut the mpg movie in 2 files?
Or to convert my mpg movie to a DivX so it is smoller?

    Tnx.

Sure, if you convert to DIVX, you cannot play it on a standalone DVD player.

To convert to DIVX, you need a few tools:

    DIVX codec (I recommend 3.11alpha)
VirtualDUB (or vidomi to encode from MPEG2 to DIVX)

My method for good quality and file size:

Convert video to MPEG2 on the highest quality using tmpgenc encoder, then open vidomi and open your encoded MPEG2 video. Then choose the video codec as DIVX fast motion with 75 crisp and 6000 bitrate. Audio should be MP3 @ 192 bitrate or 128. Then encode the video.

    OR:

Open virtualdub and open the MPEG1 video, select the fast motion codec, again fast motion 75 crisp and 6000 bitrate and audio should be 192 or 128 bitrate. File and save the avi and all should be well.

    Hope it woks for you

What is the length of your movie, because if it is 1hr20min or less then it will fir on ONE cd-r

Because Nero burns the "raw" data when choosing a vcd................not the MB but the TIME is the limiting factor

You can burn up to 800 MB of mpg as long as the lenght is not more then 1:20

These are maximum figures, so to play it safe i wouldn't go to the extreme

Hmmmm, that's wierd. I think it maybe the audio. Right, in virtual dub, when loaded video file, click on video and full processing mode, do the same thing with the audio. Then in the video choose compression and the settings I told you. Do the same think in the audio section, choose MP3.

          This should solve your problem.

          Thanks

            techno,

in Audio menu the "compression" option is disabled and I can't modify that.

Probabily the faster solution is to create a VCD as abdul said.

Exist a tool to split the mpg file in 2 files?

            Tnx

only when the movie isn't too long in time

I agree with Mr.Abdul. TMPGENC also cuts the files (File MPEG tools).

What version of Virtualdub are you using? download version 1.4.7 and v1.4.8 (www.virtualdub.org)
