Space issues with DVX and Windows

Does anyone else have this issue with DVX (or maybe it's OGG) and WIndows?

I requested a 350 mb file in DVX but when I go into Windows explorer, the file size shows up as 360,567 kb. At first I thought that DVX was encoding incorrectly and missing the mark by a mile!

But then I right-clicked on the file and went to "properties" and the file size shows as 352mb (369,221,632 bytes).

The problem is that when I use Nero to try and burn it, Nero uses the bytes measurement (369,221,632) and there's no way I can put two files on a 700mb disk.

So do I have to just ask for say...a 340 mb file in DVX and just live with it, or is this a known issue with OGM files and Windows that has a workaround?

This seems to be the case with all the OGM files I've created (about 20).

Most CD burners have overburn capability. therefore, you should have no problem burning 704MB to a 700MB/80 minute CD-R.

Set NERO for overburning (File>>Preferences>>Expert) and also put a checkmark next to "Disk-at-once".

No, the problem is that Windows Explorer as well as other programs such as Nero think the file is 360mb (x2 files is 720), that's way more than can fit on a 700mb CD. It's only when I right-click and go to properties that it shows as 352 which wouldn't be a problem.

The problem is twice as bad for a 700mb movie, it comes out as 740mb but reads as 700 when right-clicking.

It must have something to do with the ogm format because when I encode the same show as an avi it comes out right on the money. And I'm having the same issue with every OGM I create (about 20 so far).

There are 1,024 bytes in a kilobyte and 1,024 kilobytes in a megabyte.

Therefore, 369,221,632 bytes = 352 megabytes

(369,221,632 divided by 1,024 divided by 1,024)


So, once again, I'd suggest that the two files total only 704Mgs - for which, if you follow my previous post, you should be able to overburn on one CD-R...
