    I just need a awswer to a question

    oki have a divx codec right but when i d/l movies and play them many of the are in avi format do I need a diferent codec to get bvetter quality

    P.S i can still play them but they are not as good as I think they should have been but still ok

    The secret is:

    garbage in --> garbage out

    You can only view that quality that's in the source (you downloaded) but never make a better quality.

            AVI is simply a container format. Many different compression formats (for example, DivX and Indeo) can be used.

            Do you need a different codec for better quality? That depends. Most of the time it is best to leave the decoding to their native decoders (i.e. DivX contents with DivX decoder and such). For decoding MPEG-4 compression formats however, I personally found FFDShow to have very good quality, often surpassing those of native decoders.

            p.s. does it occur to you that most of the postings here, except for TheWolf's, offer hardly any help?
